3D Scanning

With manufactured and engineered components having increasingly more complex geometry, scanning components is the fastest and most accurate way to inspect or convert to CAD/CAM files for replicating/modifying/inspecting or reverse engineering of an original component.

3D Scanning can offer a cost effective solution for Engineers, manufacturers, researchers, artists, designer & toolmakers to have components scanned or verified at any stage of product development, thus reducing development and manufacturing lead times.

At 3D Scanning we utilise the ATOS white light optical scanning system coupled with high end Rapidform software to convert and inspect the scanned component. Being a non contact scanning system delicate and intricate components can easily be scanned, with sizes ranging from 10mm to 2000mm can be accurately scanned.

Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is a process of capturing data from a physical component, with our ATOS optical scanner, from the point cloud data captured we can then export it to the powerful Rapidform software where surfaces are added to the polygonized model to produce a water tight surface file, which can then be exported to CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping software.

Suitable files that can be exported in are STL, IGES, TXT, STEP ASCI and parasolid XT.

Inspection

After manufacturing a complex component how do you check critical areas with a high degree of accuracy?

With the ATOS system coupled with the powerful Rapidform software we can overlay the original CAD file to the high resolution scan to compare features, surfaces and tolerances.

This will clearly highlight discrepancies between design and manufacture of components for close fitting parts and where flatness and tolerances are of high importance to a components manufacture, thus eliminating the guesswork, which will reduce development costs and cycle times as well as improving your bottom line.

This can be used for quality control, tooling verification, plastic components, aerospace, and metal products to establish conformity to the original CAD data.

Onsite scanning will be available soon.
